Ep. 24 - Overcoming Anxiety & Trauma with Plant Medicine

Lauren spent almost her whole life in denial that she had anxiety.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 26 years old, and this diagnosis became the catalyst for change in the rest of her life. She turned her pain into purpose, transitioning from a career in finance to becoming a holistic nutritionist and a master mindset coach with a specialization in breast cancer. As Lauren embarked on her personal healing journey, addressing both physical and mental health, she found herself drawn to plant medicines like psilocybin mushrooms and ayahuasca, which became instrumental in overcoming her own mental health struggles. Today, she leads women's mushroom retreats and is a certified plant medicine integration coach.

In this episode, Lauren and I chat about her realization of living with anxiety for years, her journey of recovering from breast cancer, the profound impact of ayahuasca and plant medicine, recognizing and shifting unconscious patterns, the concept of our bodies keeping score, somatic work, the power of therapy, dissociation, mindfulness practices, listening to our bodies, building a solid foundation for change, and the importance of supporting the physical body when dealing with an anxiety disorder. We also discuss the importance of emotional and mental support in the healing process.
